Slow Cooked Gammon Dinner with carrots, and potato. This is a great dish to put in the slow cooker in the morning before going to work!

I make up the Knorr Parsley Sauce with Fat Free milk. You can make your own homemade version, replacing the butter with a fat free quark cheese. It depends on the time you have.

  • Remove the packaging and place the gammon in the slow cooker. You can set on high or low - depending on the length of time you wish to cook it for. If it is 5-6 hours, I put it on high. Any longer and I put it on low.
  • At this stage, you can pile in other vegetables on top or under the gammon. Onion, turnips, carrots, potatoes. They get great flavour from the gammon as it cooks. Some slow cookers require water or a little stock - so check the specs on yours! If you like to add cauliflower, I would steam it separately at the end as it cooks quickly.
  • Steam the potatoes. These can take about 20 minutes. Sprinkle a little chopped parsley to serve.
  • The Cheats Sauce!
  • You know those days - you are in a hurry! You just want the tasty dinner now! Without the hassle of making a parsley sauce from scratch! This is a really nice sauce - you don't need a lot of it, but it adds extra flavour to the dinner!
